Individual Psychotherapy
Personalized Care for Children, Adolescents, and Adults
The GW Center Clinic provides individual therapy for adults, adolescents, children, and parents. Our clinicians work collaboratively with clients to understand their experiences, build on their strengths, and support meaningful, lasting change. Sessions are typically held once or twice per week, depending on individual needs and treatment goals.
- What Can Individual Therapy Help With?
People seek therapy for many different reasons. Some come with a specific concern, while others are looking for support during a difficult period or want to better understand themselves and their relationships.
Common areas of focus include:
- Anxiety and excessive worry
- Depression and low mood
- Stress and burnout
- Self-esteem and confidence
- Grief and loss
- Trauma
- Relationship and family concerns
- Life transitions
- Identity development
- Cultural identity and acculturation
- Emotional regulation
- Therapy for Children and Families
Child therapy is tailored to the developmental needs of each child and often involves close collaboration between the therapist, caregivers, and the child. Parent guidance may be incorporated to reinforce therapeutic goals at home and support healthy development.
Please note: Child therapy requires specialized training and is offered based on clinician expertise and availability.
- Our Approach
As a university training clinic, therapy is provided by advanced doctoral students in clinical psychology under the supervision of licensed psychologists. Treatment is individualized, evidence-informed, and guided by each client's unique goals, values, and experiences.
